  Morus nigra                                                 Black Mulberry                                        

Spreading deciduous rounded tree with alternate, cordate/ovate shaped green leaves with rough upper surface.

Spring/summer producing small, light green male and female flowers on seperate catkins, but on the same plant, followed by green fruit, ovoid in shape which turns dark purple in summer.

Bark is rough with deep fissures running vertically.
